Midwives and Feminists.

Fictional characters, Léonie and Flavie were nonetheless shaped from life. Anne-Marie Sicotte, author of the trilogy The Midwives, explains how much their rebellion mirrors that of their 19th-century contemporaries, who were forced to obey a guardianship that was an insult to their intelligence and abilities. A dive into the mosaic of those old times, when being born a woman required considerable courage.
