Book summary

From Paris, France, to Varennes, Quebec, Josée Tétreault and Marcel Lussier tell the fabulous story of their Lussier (Lhuissier) ancestors.
Who were they?
Where did they live?
What jobs did they do?
Meticulous research in archival documents, both in France and Quebec, has enabled them to retrace the history of the Lussier family, much to the delight of their descendants.

Join Josée and Marcel as they meet Jacques Lussier’s family in Paris.
In the mid-17th century, Jacques Lussier’s father and grandfather, stonemasons Jacques and Pierre Lhuissier, and his grandmother, vair embroiderer Symphorienne Tallon, lived on Rue des Gravilliers.
Follow in the footsteps of Thomas Haye and Philipe Dezègre, two of Jacques Lussier’s cousins who left their mark on the Château de Versailles.

In the company of the King’s Daughter Charlotte Lamarche, head to Dieppe in Normandy and board the ship Le Saint- Jean-Baptiste for New France.
As soon as you step ashore in Quebec City in 1669, you’ll witness Charlotte’s marriage to none other than Jacques Lussier.
Two years later, you’ll take part in the marriage of widowed Jacques Lussier to his second wife Catherine Clérice, another Fille du roi.

At the fief du Tremblay and Cap de Varennes, witness the joys and sorrows of the Lussier family.
Over the years, you’ll witness the births, marriages and deaths of the family’s many children.
At the beginning of the 18th century, in the company of Jacques and Catherine, cross to Île à L’Huissier, their last residence.

In the winter of 1712-1713, set out in search of Jacques Lussier, ancestor of all the Lussiers, Lucier and Lucia of America, who left without leaving an address….

Les Filles du Roy, pionnières des seigneuries de Varennes et de Verchères

Biographies of the ‘Filles du Roy’ who settled in Varennes (13) and Verchères (11), as well as texts on the territory, the seigneurial system, the common mill, the governors of New France and their edicts, and Madeleine de Verchères.
